About the Zoo In Forest Park
The Zoo in Forest Park is a non-profit organization governed by the Forest Park Zoological Society. Situated in Forest Park, a 735 acre woodland park in Springfield, the Zoo features exotic and indigenous animals representing a large variety of species found throughout the world and in North America.

The Zoo is dedicated to wildlife education and offers a variety of educational programs and special events for children and adults. Zoo On The Go, Guided Tours, and Discovery Programs can be adapted to all age groups and interests. Different events almost every weekend allow guests to explore all aspects of science, while having a good time.  Animal Tales in July and August introduces the mystery and excitement of nature through literature. Zoo Camp, during both winter and summers school vacations all children ages 6-11 to explore nature, discover wildlife and meet exotic creatures.

ALL ABOARD!
The big news, if you haven't heard, is that MassMutual bought a new train for the zoo! In celebrating their 150th birthday, our community's biggest company made a gift to Springfield in the form of a new, propane-driven road train that will provide much-needed income for the zoo. It will also allow us to participate in events and parades in the community. It is indeed a significant birthday present, and it will keep on giving for a long time. Thank you MassMutual for the latest example of your long-standing support for your community.
